Advent Devotionals

Advent is the beginning of our church year.  It begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas and concludes on Christmas Eve.  The word "advent" means "coming", and therefore is a time in our faith community where we focus, particularly in worship, on preparing for the coming of the Christ child, the celebration of Christmas. Advent begins quietly on the first Sunday, recognizing that we need to look inward before we can begin our outward preparations.  With each successive Sunday we increase our sense of celebration, including our Hanging of the Christmas Green on the second Sunday of Advent and opportunities for concerts of powerful music of this season throughout the follow weeks.  On Christmas Eve we gather to worship through scripture, carols and the lighting of candles, welcoming the birth of Jesus only a few hours away.

Below are those daily devotions.
